"LEARN-to-ROW", hosted by the Rochester Rowing Club Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th, 2011 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost: $100/person
Rochester Rowing Club is hosting a LEARN-to-ROW opportunity for people with little or no rowing experience on the weekend of June 4th and 5th. It's a two-day crash course on Silver Lake. Novices will be taught how to row on the dockside and on the water. We are planning to fill two boats of eight, so we can accommodate 16 people for the weekend. Participants will be introduced to sweep rowing (rowing with one oar) as a crew. At the end of the weekend, participants will have a chance to race against the other novice boat in a "Crab-free" regatta. A BBQ social will be held on Sunday after the race! Equipment and instructions will be provided. Commitment for both days is necessary (Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm); the cost will be $100 per person. Participants wishing to continue on with the Rowing Club will have discounted membership fee for this season ($25 off the regular rate). All proceeds will go to the Rochester Rowing Club to help develop Junior Rowing in Rochester. Please R.S.V.P. to Rochester.rowing@yahoo.com, and spread the word! Sign-up is first come, first served.
