Dear friend of RRC
This is an appeal for you to support the Rowing Program of Rochester Rowing Club through our 2009 capital campaign. We help kids of high school age and adults to learn to love rowing, enriching their personal life, teaching kids life lessons, and providing a foundation for collegiate success and giving them a lifelong sport. Joining with you and others in developing this program has been most fulfilling. I enjoy it immensely. You too will love helping these kids through your donation.
Our Junior program started eight years ago and thanks to members, parents, and donors the kids have been amazingly successful. Graduates achieved success at university programs like Princeton, Minnesota, Iowa and others. We have had International champions including victory at the International Henley regatta in England in 2004. The tradition continues with our Juniors performing outstandingly in the Midwest Championships this year medaling in three events and qualifying for two events for the National Championships. Our alumni are coaches at the University of Texas and Arizona State University. After Spring Training in Austin, Texas nine rowers went to St.Louis Sprints and drove back to Rochester with 5 gold medals.
We are an all volunteer organization. Since assuming the role of Head Coach and Junior Team Coach this year, I am more impressed than ever with the dedication and devotion of our Adult and Junior Rowers, the Junior parents, and our volunteers including coaches and support staff. With your help we’ll achieve our goal and sustain even greater goals in future years.
We need some critical resources. Two coaching/safety launches and their engines failed beyond repair and we had to scrap them. We lost use of a truck to pull our boat trailer. Breakage and frequent usage led to a shortage of good sculling oars, and boats are showing signs of aging leading us to sell them. Dues cover less than 10% of our costs. Fundraisers, our annual Minnesota Indoor Rowing Championships, and sale of older equipment, are not enough to maintain our capital expenses. Donations have supported our Junior Program in the past. We need your help to continue to achieve our goals.
We would very much appreciate your tax-deductible donation to Rochester Rowing Club to help us purchase what our Board has determined to be our most critical needs and help us also to keep our dues within reach of our dedicated Junior rowers and their families.
Our needs:
- A wakeless coaching / safety launch and trailer $13,887
- Midweight Kaschper Racing Double $8,450
- 5 sets of sculling oars $1,940
- Truck purchase $6,000
- Junior Rowers Assistance fund $3,000
- Miscellaneous equipment, facilities, insurance (est) $6,000
Total $39,277
A matching pledge of up to $12,000.00 by an RRC member has been made to help us get to our goal but we need your support right away to give us a jump start on a successful season. Please help us to raise the remaining $27,277 to reach our capital campaign goal.
Any amount is fully tax deductible. We are an all volunteer organization with no salaries and any donation will be used only to build the club and support our rowers – We will keep you informed of the progress of the campaign via this website
